THINK Surgical Inc., a developer of orthopedical surgical robots, as we speak introduced a brand new collaboration settlement with Waldemar Link GmbH, or LINK. THINK Surgical plans so as to add LINK’s LinkSymphoKnee System for joint substitute to its ID-HUB information financial institution of implant modules to be used with its TMINI Miniature Robotic System.

Unlike different builders of robots for orthopedic surgical procedure, THINK stated it’s dedicated to offering an open platform that help implants from a number of producers. This newest addition will additional improve the choices obtainable to surgeons utilizing the TMINI system for extra personalised and exact surgical outcomes, stated the Fremont, Calif.-based firm.

“LINK has a long history of innovative product development and embracing cutting-edge technologies,” stated Stuart Simpson, president and CEO of THINK Surgical, in a launch. “We are excited about this new collaboration with LINK that will enable even more choice for customers and patients in the U.S.”

LINK to make surgical system extra accessible

The TMINI system features a wi-fi robotic handpiece to help surgeons in performing complete knee replacements. The robotic system follows a CT-based three-dimensional surgical plan, defined THINK Surgical.

When in use, the TMINI robotic handpiece robotically compensates for surgeon hand actions to find bone pins alongside exactly outlined planes. The system then connects reducing guides to the bone pins for correct bone resection.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted the system 510(ok) clearance in April 2023. LINK stated including the LinkSymphoKnee System to its ID HUB database will permit U.S. clients to entry robotic-assisted know-how for knee replacements.

“We are pleased to partner with another industry leader like THINK Surgical to showcase this cutting-edge technology,” said Peter Willenborg, CEO of LINK. “Handheld technology represents the next evolutionary leap in robotic surgery, particularly for new users and outpatient surgery centers.”

“This partnership underscores our commitment to offering the most innovative solutions to the market,” he added. “The integration of THINK Surgical’s advanced robotic technology with LINK’s state-of-the-art TKA system, LinkSymphoKnee, further enhances patient care.”

THINK expands appropriate implants for TMINI

THINK stated it has already began creating the implant module for the LinkSymphoKnee system. The firm is poised to hunt FDA clearance within the coming months for using the TMINI System with the system.

The firm says that its collaboration with THINK Surgical aligns with LINK’s dedication to providing probably the most progressive programs available on the market.

THINK’s Implant Data Hub, or ID-HUB, is a proprietary information financial institution of associate implants. The firm says this opens up entry and choices for surgeons in the case of utilizing TMINI. In the long run, THINK says the system will permit surgeons to readily join their selection of implants to its robotic working system.

In October 2023, THINK acquired FDA clearance to make use of TMINI with three further implant producers. These embody the Klassic Knee System from Total Joint Orthopedics Inc., the Balanced Knee System (BKS) and BKS TriMax Knee System from Ortho Development Corp., and the U2 Knee from United Orthopedic Corp.
