New York Daily News, Chicago Tribune sue OpenAI, Microsoft for knowledge use


Eight main each day newspapers, together with the Chicago Tribune and the New York Daily News, sued OpenAI and Microsoft on Tuesday, becoming a member of the backlash to artificial-intelligence corporations which have used copyrighted work to coach their algorithms with out compensating content material homeowners.

The group contains South Florida’s Sun Sentinel, the Denver Post, Orange County (Calif.) Register, San Jose Mercury News, Orlando Sentinel and St. Paul Pioneer Press. The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI and Microsoft used their information articles to coach and run their AI instruments, together with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. All eight publications are owned by Alden Global Capital, a New York City-based funding fund.
