Last weekend I went to the Taste of North Garden Winemakers Dinner with my mom in legislation! Here’s the recap.

I really like a theme dinner!

This previous Friday evening, I took my mom in legislation to the Taste of North Garden Winemakers Dinner as a belated seventieth birthday reward! She lives in North Garden, the place Thomas grew up, so this was the proper setting for us to get pleasure from dinner collectively!

The dinner paired wines and ciders from Wisdom Oak Winery, Loving Cup Vineyard & Winery, and Albemarle Ciderworks together with meals ready by native North Garden Chef, Ian Rubenoff. Ian and Thomas have been elementary college classmates!

Taste of North Garden Winemakers Dinner

We arrived at Albemarle Ciderworks on a cool, foggy night and have been greeted with a glass of brut d’albemarle.

Hors d’Oeuvres

Smoked Alaskan salmon dip on a rye cracker with cherry compote.

Wine Pairings

Paired with the brut and the sparking rosé brute nature from Wisdom Oak.

Remarks

We heard some remarks from the winemakers and toasted to the North Garden group.

First Course

Blue crab stuffed roasted portobello with child greens (from Ian’s mother’s backyard!) and an avocado and cherry tomato salad on high. Loved this and ate each chew!

Wine Pairings

Paired with the Loving Cup White and the Royal Pippin Cider.

Second Course

Crispy pork stomach with chipotle honey served with a charred leek and mushroom tamale and garlicky greens. This was the most effective pork stomach dishes I’ve ever had! I really like tamales, too.

Wine Pairings

Wisdom Oak’s Cabernet Franc and the Loving Cup Red. I beloved each reds, as they have been “very Virginia” in one of the simplest ways!

Dessert Course

My favourite course!! We have been served a walnut buckwheat toffee cake with a rhubarb dulce de leche and a cream cheese ice cream. The ice cream was completely melty and tasted like cheesecake! I used to be obsessed and need I may have it on the common.

Wine Pairings

With the toffee cake we loved a Virginia Maiden Cyser, which is a cider meade collab with Black Heath Meadery out of Richmond.

Such a particular dinner – I hope we are able to do it once more subsequent yr!
