Risk administration society RIMS has introduced that David Arick will function president for the 2024 time period. Arick assumed the function on Jan. 1.

Arick has labored in insurance coverage and threat administration for greater than 35 years. Currently, he’s assistant treasurer for international threat administration at International Paper Company, a producer of fiber-based packaging and pulp. Based in Memphis, Tenn., Arick and his workforce are liable for threat financing and captive administration, insurance coverage applications and claims administration, and property loss prevention engineering.

Arick started his profession in claims providers at Nationwide Insurance. He has additionally held threat administration roles at Banc One Corporation, Abbott Laboratories, Emerson Electric and General Electric. He joined International Paper in 2004.

“Risk management is at a crossroads,” Arick stated. “While the occupation’s momentum is at an all-time excessive, to maintain it transferring in the fitting path it’s as much as the danger group to step out of their consolation zones, sharpen their expertise, and set their collective objectives even greater.

Arick has been concerned with RIMS all through his profession. He initially served as an officer and board member for the Central Ohio and St. Louis chapters of RIMS. He has additionally served as a member of the RIMS International Committee, chair of the Long-Range Planning Committee, and a member of the External Affairs Committee. He joined the society’s board of administrators in 2019, serving as secretary in 2021, treasurer in 2022, and vice chairman in 2023.

In addition to Arick, the RIMS officers for 2024 are:

  • Vice president:  Kristen Peed, head of company threat, Sequoia
  • Treasurer: Kevin Bates, group head of threat and insurance coverage, Lendlease
  • Secretary: Manuel Padilla, vice chairman of threat administration and insurance coverage, MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated

RIMS’ new board members are:

  • Ann Barry, senior director of threat administration, Palo Alto Networks
  • Will Lehman, international director of threat administration, Cook Group Incorporated
  • Tamieka Weeks, director of worldwide threat administration and insurance coverage, Southwire Company
  • Robert Zhang, regional threat and compliance supervisor, Asia Pacific, IKEA Supply

Incumbent board members are:

  • Penni Chambers, vice chairman of threat administration, Hillwood a Perot Company
  • John Kline, director of threat and insurance coverage administration, Discover Financial Services
  • Christie Weinstein, director of threat administration, Honeywell International
  • Ex officio: Jennifer Santiago, director of threat administration and security, Wakefern Food Corp.
  • Non-voting director: Gary A. LaBranche, CEO of RIMS
