How to create a quantity for Docker containers in Portainer


Learn methods to use Portainer to create a quantity for Docker containers with this temporary tutorial from Jack Wallen.

In a current TechRepublic video, Jack Wallen confirmed methods to create and use a Docker CIFS quantity with the Portainer web-based GUI. The following is an edited transcript of his tutorial.

First off, you’ll have to have a CIFS share to connect with on both the machine internet hosting Docker or one other machine in your community.

Log into Portainer, choose the Docker setting and click on Volumes from the left navigation. Click Add Volume within the high proper nook. Give the amount a reputation, and click on the On/Off slider for Use CIFS Volume till it’s within the on place.

Type the tackle for the machine internet hosting the CIFS share. Type the share identify. Select CIFS V3. Add a username who has entry to the share, sort that person’s password, and click on Create the amount.

To use the amount, click on Containers within the left navigation, and within the ensuing window, click on Add Container. Give the container a reputation. Type the picture for use for the container.

Scroll all the way down to the Advanced Container Setting part. Click volumes. Click Map Additional Volume. Type the trail inside the container, comparable to /knowledge/db. Select the newly created quantity from the amount dropdown, after which, click on Deploy the Container.
